Overall Effects of Smoking


It is said that more than 400,000 deaths in the U.S. each year are from smoking-related illnesses

eyes - smokers are likely to get wrinkles on their eyes

lips - excessive smoking lead to lip cancer

mouth - over 25,000 to! 30,000 new cases of oral and pharyngeal cancer is diagnosed and over 8,000 deaths occur due to oral cancer. The primary cause of oral cancer is smoking

Skin - smoking reduces the level of collagen in the skin which leads to loss of elasticity and the quick formation of lines and wrinkles.

hair - smoking will lead to gray hair

face - smoking causes smokers face

lungs - It is reported that 90% of lung cancers is caused by smoking. Teen smokers have smaller lungs and weaker hearts than teens who don't smoke

blood - smoking causes! damage to small blood vessels and thereby causes cellulite

sex - It is proved that quality of sperm can be reduced by smoking

heart - Smoking stimulates central nervous system and increases heart rate and blood pressure

money - smoking is waste of money. Smokers on an average spends around 500$ per year. It appears that the price of cigarettes will continue to rise in coming years

society - smokers not only hurt themselves but also family members and others who breathe their cigarette smoke which is called second hand smoke

child - More than 300,000 cases of bronchitis and pneumonia is associated! with second hand smoke. Children who smoke are 15 times more likely to begin using narcotic drugs.
breathing - Secondhand smoke (other smokers smoke) causes coughing, wheezing, colds, earaches, and asthma attacks.

pregnancy - During pregnancy, nicotine freely crosses the placenta and has been found in amniotic fluid of infants
